There is plenty of good food out there not being used, and there are people in our own back yard who need this food. The goal for the Slow Harvest Gleaning Project is to create a network that will move food along–from field to fork–in a not-so-traditional way. We bring produce gleaned weekly from west county farms and gardens to local organizations that need food: Food for Thought Food Bank, Ceres, Graton Labor Center, La Luz, Redwood Empire Food Bank, and Redwood Gospel Mission. Slow Harvest also sponsors regular cooking and canning sessions and donates the canned products to food banks.
