SUMMARY:Annual Meeting\, Farm to Fight Hunger\, Healdsburg
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate a Year of Slow Food With Us at Our Annual Meeting!\n \nSpeakers Zeke Guzman & Jenny Trotter \nThere is no charge for this event\, but please register for planning purposes. \nRegister Here \nCome Help Us Celebrate Our Members and Our Collective Work This Year–and Learn About Small Farms That Make a Difference\nMingle with old friends and meet new members\, have some nibbles and drinks\, and find out what your chapter has been doing this year. \nWe will enjoy the beauty of the fields and barn at Farm to Fight Hunger\, thanks to the generosity of owners Bruce Mentzer and Anthony Solar. \nAnd we are excited to welcome Zeke Guzman and Jenny Trotter as our speakers. Zeke founded El Jardín del Pueblo–The People’s Garden\, a multi-site farm that donates what it grows to families in need. Jenny is co-owner of Kibo Farm and the recipient of our chapter’s 2024 Local Farmer grant. Jenny will report on what she accomplished with her grant. \nSpecial Information\nPlease bring some Finger Food to share\, and label it. (Finger Food = no utensils needed!) \nBeverages will be provided. \nBring a friend! We want to spread the word about Slow Food and its principles of good\, clean\, and fair food for all. \nIf your membership has expired\, attend and renew it. Not a member? Come and see what we’re all about! \n \nFarm to Fight Hunger\nThe mission of FTFH is to sustainably grow nutritious vegetables\, and to produce pasture-raised eggs\, for donation to those in need of healthy food in Sonoma County. 100% of everything grown is donated.\nThe farm is a Snail of Approval – Slow Food in Sonoma County recipient. \nEl Jardin del Pueblo\nEl Jardin del Pueblo was founded by Zeke Guzman in Healdsburg to grow fresh\, organic produce for families in need. Farmworkers and other community members volunteer at the farm to grow food for themselves and others without access to healthy food. Since 2022\, El Jardin del Pueblo has expanded from a 2-acre farm to a multi-site operation. \n(Photo courtesy of Paige Green) \nKibo Farm\nKibo is a small family farm partnered with Belden Barns on Sonoma Mountain outside of Santa Rosa. It is owned by Jenny and Vince Trotter\, and is the fulfillment of their wish for a place to grow food for their community and care for the land. Almost everything from Kibo is available through the food hub F.E.E.D Cooperative\, California’s first farmer- and employee-owned fresh produce cooperative. \n(Photo KelseyJoy Photography) \nThe farm is a Snail of Approval – Slow Food in Sonoma County recipient. \n
