2015 Farm Series: Singing Frogs Farm Tour and Lunch
September 29, 2015 @ 10:00 am
$25.00Join Farmer Paul for a 90-minute tour of Singing Frogs Farm, followed by lunch.
Singing Frogs Farm is the one you’ve been reading about in many local media! Owned by Paul and Elizabeth Kaiser, it is a unique, no-till, ecologically beneficial, highly intensive vegetable farm in Sebastopol. Through innovative systems including no-till soil management, the Kaisers have more than tripled the organic matter in their soil while producing over five times the state average of crops per acre. They have brought back tremendous, healthy populations of pollinators, beneficial insects and vertebrates (natural pest control). They say, “Not only do we use less water to produce our vegetables because of our soil organic matter, we also use NO sprays of any kind, not even organic sprays, and our awesome crew of year-round employees (not seasonal) have job security.” The Farm has won the National Farmer Rancher Award for Pollinator Conservation (2010) and the 2013 Leadership in Sustainability Award, Sonoma County.
$25 members, $35 nonmembers.
After the tour we’ll have our lunch at shaded picnic tables. Our meal will be prepared and served by Sonoma County North leaders, and will include panzanella, green salad, cheeses, breads, fruits, and wine. Please bring your own place setting and glass.
